DAY TWELVE – A Vintage Style Sherlock Holmes e-Reader Cover

Todays lovely prize comes courtesy of the Crime Readers Association, the perfect place for you if you love Poirot, Sherlock Holmes and other vintage crime fiction, or even if you’re a lover of contemporary crime fiction.

They’ve donated an Adventures of Sherlock Holmes e-reader cover, in a size that caters for e-readers and tablets up to the size of an iPad mini.

The cover was designed in association with the British Library  and is part of a range that consists of some of the most beautiful and well-loved book covers in the British Library archives. These cases replicate the book’s exact condition and even includes the Library’s unique shelf number as it is stored in its collections. This particular cover is a replica of a 1905 edition of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

    I am a Sherlock Holmes girl (Clive Merrison’s radio play portrayal being my favourite) but on the TV nothing beats Poirot for attention to detail on costume, make-up etc. Glorious!

    Dorothy L Sayers. I fell in love with Lord Peter Wimsey as a teenager and I’m still completely smitten! Gaudy Night is possibly my favourite book ever.

    This is going to sound VERY silly. But my heart will always belong to Gertrude Chandler Warner, author of The Boxcar Children. My first mysteries, and always my favorite! I can’t wait to introduce my children to the series someday <3

    I usually gravitate toward mysteries set in Great Britain so have a number of favorite crime fiction authors. However, I believe the pioneers of this genre – Christie, Sayers, Doyle and Marsh – are my favorites! 🙂

    OOh I love this cover. Not normally too much of a crime reader but I did love The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo book and the rest in the series!

    I have several ‘favourites’ – my childhood favourites were Nancy Drew and Sherlock Holmes, then I discovered Agatha Christie, Dick Francis, Ruth Rendell, Minette Walters, Phil Rickman. So my favourite depends on what kind of mood I’m in – currently in a Phil Rickman phase x

    I love, love, love Raymond Chandler. Often imitated and parodied, never bettered. And his books led to some great films.

    Crime is one of my favourite genres. At the moment I love Boris Akunin (translated Russian historical crime) and as an all time favourite Sherlock Holmes or perhaps Colin Dexter. I prefer Agatha Christie as screen adaptation (philistine that I am).

    This e-reader cover is just perfect! I am currently reading all the Sherlock Holmes books on my new kindle.
    But I must say, my all times favorite stays Agatha Christie. Her characters are fascinating are she always manage to manipulate the reader into suspecting the wrong character.

    I’m not sure that I have a favourite as I am always discovering new ones but my favourite vintage crime authors would have to be Agatha Christie and Gladys Mitchell.
