Sensible Footwear for Autumn Feet

Ok, so, I’ve finally given and admitted it’s autumn.

I’m checking through my stocking drawer to see if I actually have any I can still wear and eventually I’ll get around to making sure all my summer frocks are cleaned and repaired to go away for the winter.

As the rain starts falling and the weather cools I, sadly, have to start thinking about sensible footwear. I’m not yet at the point of thinking about snow boots and wellies, but I am thinking sensible, non slippy, yet vaguely attractive every day footwear.

Suede is impractical as they’ll be ruined in the rain, anything too high and spindly is out as broken ankles on slippy pavements and endless re-heeling gets very tiresome and peep toes, ankle straps and slingbacks get relegated to the back of the wardrobe to wait for warmer times.

This season, thankfully, the mid heel brogue is ubiquitous. It’s a perfect autumn shoe and works really well with a vintage style look. Available in versatile black, tweedy brown and a whole range of other colours, I’ve been off to trawl the High Street and hunt down some lovely autumn shoes to suit all budgets. You’re welcome!

Budget? I laugh in the face of Budget!

Radley Tolstoy Mid Heel Shoes – Ā£150

Also available in a kind of beigey green colour, these have leather covered heels with a wood effect strip down the back, making them a little different, and allegedly leg lengthening.

Chie Mihara Cosmic Shoes – Ā£198

At little more flashy with the two tone going on, but if I pay that much for a pair of shoes I want people to notice! Also available in plum and black.

I can’t go crazy, but I’ll pay for a decent pair of shoes.

Office Brogue Baby – Ā£68

Classic brogue style, also available in *deep breath* tan, blue, floral, grey, mustard, khaki and leopard print suede. Phew!

Clarks Bone Rattle W – Ā£54.99

A slightly different style with pleating and a square toe.

Find me cheap or I go barefoot

Peacocks Ladies Perivale Brogue – Ā£20

Cheap and cheerful, but should hopefully keep out *most* of the rain. Also available in tan.

Peacocks Percivale Brogue

Marks & Spencer Footglove Leather Whipstitch Lace Ups – Ā£39.50

Also available in chocolate brown, they have a nice low front that should look good with skirts and are from the footglove range, so should be comfortable for something in this price range!

They’re great aren’t they! I think I’d buy a pair in every colour. Be prepared!

    Khaki brogues? *swoon*

I think I’ve missed the most amazing ankle lace-up boots I saw in M&S a month or so back, kicking myself for not buying them. Those brogues are nice though, so they might be a nice alternative! Thank you for a very informative post…
