London Fashion Week kicks off today and I shall be there.
Sadly only for a couple of days as the limitations of my current location and budget don’t allow me to stay any longer this season. I’ll be back with coverage of the shows and presentations I catch, but for today I’ll leave you with some friday frock love.
When I was a teenager M&S was where you bought bras and posh sandwiches for lunch and old ladies bought their elasticated waists. This is a hard image to get out of your head, but those sexy Christmas ads and endless images of Myleene Klass in chic M&S dresses have slowly begun to change my mind. In fact, I even own 2 Marks & Spencers dresses myself, a simple black jersey with slightly 40s styling and a black and beige print silk mini dress.
Samantha Cameron nearly ruined it for me with her “I’m a woman of the people” £65 M&S dress that was sourced after a personal request to Stuart Rose and then specially made for her, but I let it go and they still have some beautiful dresses on their website.
Currently I’m loving.
Not the cheapest of dresses but I like the simple classic cut. This would be a great every day dress for Summer, though I’d probably replace the corsage with a belt.
Autograph Occasions Pure Silk Boat Neck Dress £69
I love the layered sleeves and gathered front on this. Again, I might belt it in, though possibly with bright red hair I shouldn’t be thinking about pink dresses at all…..
Autograph Exclusive Circle Print Shift Dress with Belt £55
Apparently this dress is “perfect for elegant occasions”. I’m not sure I go to any of those, but I still think this is a lovely structured black shift. I wouldn’t wear it with those horrible shoes though…..
