I Can't Avoid it Any Longer – The World Cup

The first England game of the World Cup is just 3 days away.

There’s no avoiding it, and to be honest I don’t want to. I like any excuse for a party and the World Cup is certainly that. I like an excuse to get all excited and patriotic for a couple of weeks. What I don’t like is when good natured patriotism spills over into thuggery and xenophobia.

But we won’t let the morons ruin our fun will we?

If you’re lucky enough to be travelling to South Africa then Glossary has a great post on what to pack and expect, and I hope you don’t need those reminders from the Home Office not to behave like an idiot. If you’re staying at home then don’t forget that just because the Football is on is no reason to forget your sartorial head and start dressing badly.

Seriously. No.

Just because you’re watching Football doesn’t mean you can’t be a lady, try demonstrating your patriotism like this:

Of course, if you really can’t stand the Football, there’s always Wimbledon. I shall personally be watching both (see aforementioned “any excuse for a party” )

I shall leave you with the words of Mr.B the Gentleman Rhymer and his World Cup Song.

Yay a woman who’s actually looking forward to the world cup!

But I have to disagree I’m afraid & you know me I never disagree with you, but for some reason it’s beer or nothing when watching a match, I can’t even do wine, it just doesn’t feel ‘right’! Apart from that I shall remain a well dressed lady :o)

Ah ha! Yes, I’m a real ale drinker, so I shall likely drink ale while watching. I just thought the G&T looked nicer in the collage šŸ˜‰

Oh well I’ll let you off then ;o) I don’t even know why, but for some reason it has to be beer when watching a match, usually a nice belgian one though!

I am so excited for the world cup! I can’t stand really laddy xenophobia either. I think the set you made is great.

ooh where is the dress from???

I’m South African (from Cape Town) and not a soccer fan at all – having said that even I’m getting excited! The vibe here is INSANE šŸ™‚

They now sell square scarves in a light cotton in our country’s flag. It’s actually a way to be patriotic and still look stylish, plus you keep warm at the game. Wish I could get my hands on that red skirt to match my scarf! Where’s it from?

The Englad flag and Union Jack has such chic, classic colours! Bless SA but our flag has such a crazy colour combo, egh, I don’t fancy it much. Enjoy the game and thanks for the link love:D
