Sooo, over the Summer I have a couple of lovely vintagey events lined up.
First up, in July is the Chap Olympics and secondly I am off to Vintage at Goodwood in August (Are you off to either of these? Let me know!)
But what’s a girl to wear? I have the urge to treat myself to something lovely and I’ve been scouting round the world of vintage repro for something appropriate and not too far out of my price range, consequently this Friday Frock Love is all about Vintage Reproductions.
Top of the wish list is currently this 1940s style dress in Green from Heyday Vintage.
I love the bodice shape, and priced at just £60 it’s really pretty reasonable when you compare it to some High Street rubbish.
Next on the list is this Tara Starlet Home Front Dancing Dress
Also available in green, my favourite colour to wear! It’s slightly more expensive at £68, but possibly more versatile for my life as it looks less of a party dress.
Finally this gorgeous 50s inspired number from She by Cindy
It’s custom made, and available in green, but $150 is skating dangerously out of my price range.
I especially love the first green dress. I’m not off to Vintage at Goodwood this year, but hope to next year once my husband has finished restoring his Austin Healey Sprite.
I love the last one best, but I’m more of a 50s girl myself so that make sense.
*makes sense.
I knew what you meant! 😀
Love the third one, particularly for summery bbqs
the third one is simply gorgeous, but yes, a tad pricey. It simply happens that way, I always like the expensive stuff 😛
Definitely the green one. It’s beautiful. I’d love to go to Vintage at Goodwood but I’ll be at my best friends wedding instead.
Loving the first one and the second. I’m not convinced the 1st one looks too much like a party dress though. To me – it just looks like a well styled and cut garment – ready for wear ANY time of day or night! Or is the just me?
YES!! I am going to Vintage – and I CANNOT wait. I have been through dress saga after dress saga. I have my day outfit sorted (landgirl inspired of course) and then back to the hotel for a quick change and then back to swing the night away! :o)
It’s Satin I think, that’s why I wondered if it was a bit eveningy!
I’m CAMPING at Vintage. Which will either be fab or horribly traumatic!
For you the green one Gemma I can see you in it. Love the second one and the third equally.
I have got my eye on the first one as well! I think it’s satin too. But I also love the third one. I have got a Butterick Retro reprint pattern that is pretty similar to the first one, I am going to have a go at making it. x
The first green dress has such a distintive historical style that it appeals to me a lot. Definitely my choice.
lovely frocks! the last is my favorite!
I love the first two – it’s a close call, but I think I like the second best. They’d both be great for swing dancing, though!!

We’re hoping to go to the Olympiad, but I’m having so many indecisions about what dress to wear that I might just end up wearing a spotty wrap dress I bought from Primark years ago!
I do love the first dress, but I’m not sure thats a colour I could wear.
I love the first two! The second one has such great details and the first one is beautifully cut, such a hard decision. The second one has a slight edge though as I love the buttons and pockets, so cute. However the first one seems more glamorous.
I love the Tara Starlet dress (Vivien of Holloway do some great ones too), but it looked rubbish on me when I tried it, sadly.
I was pondering going to Vintage at Goodwood but may just do it for a day due to (a) cost and (b) the lack of glamour involved in camping!
I have a Vivien of Holloway 50s dress, they’ve just bought out a tea dress haven’t they.
I’m only going to Goodwood for a day, but I AM camping as I can’t afford hotels. Bit concerned about the lack of glamour!
I would love the first Marilyn Monroe number for a date night.
xo,
Chrisitna
love that last one. white always looks so classy and this dress looks like a dream to wear 🙂
