On Friday Mr Chick & I had been married for 5 years.
To celebrate we’d decided to head off to Cambridge for the night on the train for a nice romantic dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel.
I’d been a little stressed about finding something to wear. I don’t have anything that really makes me feel like a Princess or I haven’t worn a 1000 times already and I couldn’t really afford to buy anything new. Then on Thursday night I headed down to the Poppy Valentine Sale evening, and while I was there, just on a whim, I tried on one of her Doris Dresses. It was a gorgeous vintage brocade fabric, and it fitted like a glove. I knew I couldn’t leave it behind and a few frantic phone calls later my Mum agreed to buy it for me as Christmas present. Thanks Mum!
❤ Dress - Poppy Valentine ❤ Shoes - New Look ❤ ❤ Bag - Accessorise ❤ Pearls - Vintage ❤
In classic “horrible orange hotel room lighting” style this picture is a very odd colour, but its gives you a better look at the dress
And these are the not so elegant outakes!
If anyone would like to invite me to any more events where I can wear this dress I am desperately looking for more excuses. I also bumped into Claire from Poppy Valentine at the Little Vintage Lover Fair and got a sneak peek at some beautiful red vintage brocade she’s planning to make as a Christmas version of the dress (must start saving now!)
I’ll leave you with some little collages of pictures I took while in Cambridge. As you can see we enjoyed cocktails on the train from our homemade portable cocktail cabinet. I tweeted a photo of it on Friday. The writing on the ceiling is in the Eagle pub and was done by American Airmen during WWII using lighters (what terrible vandals!)
