The Christmas Stocking Giveaway!

Snow is falling, all around us….

Could it feel more festive? Actually, yes it could. With the freezing temperatures and the inch thick layer of ice on the pavements I’ve actually been struggling to maintain the festive spirit I had at the end of November.

So, I decided the best way to bring it back with a vengeance was to give other people presents. (Actually I decided the best way was mulled wine and mince pies, but the second best way was to give people presents)

Thanks to the kindness and generosity ofΒ  my fabulous sponsor Pin Up Parade, online stores Lalita and Betty Hula, the lovely PR people from Bittersweet Partnership, Collection 2000 and Stargazer who are all filled with the festive spirit I have managed to cobble together a little stocking full of goodies to give away to one of you.

I’ve added some other bits myself, plus packed the whole lot up in a Christmas Stocking. It’s a “deluxe stocking” no less. No tat round here (please note, stocking *may* be tat)

So, here’s what’s inside (and I do urge you to pay a visit to the lovely shops mentioned when you’re doing your Christmas Shopping, without them this kind of giveaway would be impossible!):

  • Β£20 to spend on fabulous vintage style clothing atΒ  Pin Up Parade
  • A vintage handbag courtesy of Vintage Accessories site Lalita
  • Β£10 to spend online at Betty Hula natural moisturisers
  • An exclusive beer glass designed by Amy Molyneaux of PPQ for the Bittersweet Partnership
  • A selection of make up from Collection 2000
  • 2 retro red lipsticks from Stargazer (one of them glittery!)
  • A pair of sparkly tights from Pamela Mann
  • A handmade Christmas Tree decoration from the Retro Chick store.
  • A copy of A Girl’s Guide to Vintage by Lynn McCrossnan

Here’s a closer peek at some of the goodies.

What Do I Have to Do?

As is now traditional among blog competitions I am offering you several chances to win, you can do as many or as few as you like, but you must leave a separate comment for each entry! The reason you have to leave a separate comment is that I use a random number generator to pick the winning comment. If there’s 2 entries in each comment I can’t pick them out!

  • Leave a comment. Tell me your favourite thing about Christmas, show me your Christmas decorations or tell me what you want Santa to bring. Use this easy entry to spread some Christmas cheer!
  • Follow Retro Chick using the Google friend connect widget in the sidebar, on Facebook, or on Twitter, one entry for each of these! (if you already do this just tell me in a comment! That’s a free entry for you!)
  • Tweet or blog about the competition. (One entry for each of these)

So that’s a potential 6 entries into the prize draw. Got it?

Good.

The competition will be open for 12 days (as it’s Christmas, see!)

The Competition will run for 12 days, closing at midnight GMT Friday 17th December
The competition is open WORLDWIDE (but you are responsible for any customs fees etc!)
The final winner will be selected at random from all available entries
The winner will be notified by email and has 48 hours to respond.
No cash alternative is available!

I love Christmas and I’m even more excited about it this year as it is my little boy’s first Christmas. He’ll be 8 months on Christmas Day and I can’t wait o share it all with him. I don’t have that much on my list for Santa but I’d really like a Pocket Camcorder so fingers crossed!

  2. says: Steph

Rather cliched – but my favourite thing is spending time with the whole of my family! It’s so hard trying to get everyone together, and Christmas is the perfect excuse. That, and the booze!

    Steph x

  3. says: Adelina Soto-Thomas

I follow on Facebook and on Twitter!
My favorite thing about Christmas is that I am celebrating this Christmas as Mrs T! My hubby and I were married in August 2010. Though it’s our 3rd Christmas together as a couple, we are extra happy at this being our first ‘married’ Christmas together!

  4. says: Amy Hinchliffe

Hi! Love Christmas for seeing friends, family & good food πŸ™‚ Looking forward to additional knitting supplies, will let me keep sharing the knitted love x

  5. says: Betty

So excited about christmas this year, the last few years have been really difficult as i lost my mum and she was what made Christmas amazing.

But this year I get to spend it with a lovely man who i have waited almost 7 years to be with (yup, since i was 16!)

    bring on the snowballs…

hopefully santa will bring me some new seamed stockings!

  6. says: Aislinn

  7. says: Lyn

I love love love Christmas. I seem to become more and more excited with each passing year. My tree and decs are up as of this weekend past, and to see the look of delight on my wee man’s face was worth all the effort. I can only hope that he is just as excited come Christmas day. I have been informed, however, that he doesnt want Santa to come down the chimney and would I please write and tell him to use the front door.

    Gret Christmas giveaway!

I’m not so christmas lover, but I like christmas lights and cold weather, and also panettone and pandoro (two typical italian sweets we eat only during christmas holiday!!
This year I would like Santa to bring me seamed stockings to use with my new girdle πŸ˜‰ !!

All I can say is me me me me!!

  10. says: Diane Cooper

    I follow on Facebook.
Despite my asking Santa for Hugh Jackman dipped in Chocolate for the last 5 years, he has been unable to deliver. So this year I would like a stylish hot water bottle and cover and some thermal socks to defrost my icy toes.

  11. Oh my what lovely prices! I’m definitely in!

My favourite things about Christmas must be the Christmas tree (a real one, of course!), family dinner and exchanging presents :).

I have no idea what Santa will bring me this year, I guess it’ll be a surprise!

  12. And I’d like to enter with a comment as well. My favourite thing about Christmas is going home to Northern Ireland to see my family. I love lazing around my parents’ house in my pyjamas, teasing the dog and watching crap tv with my sisters and brother.

I’d like Santa to bring me the Bettie Page captain dress. Of course, if I win this I’ll be buying myself a pretty Bettie Page dress from Pin Up Parade, so all will be well!

    Thanks,

    Roisin

  13. says: Lauren

    What a wonderful Christmassy treat!
My favourite part of Christmas is probably the music, or the smells.
I love the rich and spicy smells that usually overpower my house and the music of Frank and Nat never fails to make me feel all warm and cheery. Roll on the snow!

  14. I love christmas because as a kid I had Hannuka and Christmas, and even today (and I’m in Israel) I celebrate Christmas.

While I might not believe in the religious side of it, it’s a beautiful holiday to bring the family together.

Oh and can Santa bring just enough money to update my wardrobe with some repro and vintage clothes please.

  15. says: kerry

A brown one.

  16. says: kerry

oh and I like your face book page but that’s on my personal profile – kerry clark. My alter ego hasn’t yet got an fb page. x

  17. says: Nickie Chapman

I love Christmas and can’t possibly name a definitive favourite thing about it. But one of my favs is baking – I love to have a reason to make lots of rich goodies – and know that this time of year, diets are out the window and everyone can gorge and enjoy πŸ™‚

  18. says: Heavenlyink

What I love most about christmas is very simple; I love being surrounded by my loved ones & just feeling the warmth, love & happiness-priceless.

  19. says: Suzanna

my favorite thing about christmas is the snow, treats, and being able to get together with loved ones.

  20. says: Monica

I love Christmas time for the all the superficial reasons (gifts, parties, decorations, etc.). But nothing can beat holiday inspired warm drinks (chocolate, apple cider, tea), Christmas music, and spending time with friends and family.

  21. says: Phoebe

    Hello!
Christmas is awesome because of family and a warm fire and fun.
I’ve seen a few books that I would love for christmas, one being the reprinted sew and mend book from 1941 and the other being the mad men stylists book, both of which I saw in waterstones on saturday.
    I follow you on facebook!

  22. says: Lucie Q

My favourite things about Christmas? My family around the fire, my 3 years boy excited about his letter to Santa Claus and his little poem to learn, and… swing Christmas songs! I can feel the Christmas spirit AND dance Lindy Hop at the same time, sooo sweet! β™₯

  23. says: Nancy T

I love Christmas because it gives me a legitimate reason to bake far more goodies than should be legal. The whole calorie counting thing tends to go out the window at this time too, so I can snarf down mincepies and egg nog without those guilty pangs for my waistline!

  24. The thing I love most about the holidays is making time to see people I don’t always get to see when I am in grad school.

I would like to get new accordion straps for xmas πŸ˜‰

  25. says: Wendy

and the best things about christmas are snuggling up with my husband, watching some brilliant movies and not feeling bad when we polish off a bottle of port and hoofing great bit of cheese.

Its also great watching my daughter almost fall over with excitement at the though of this new person called father christmas who brings her gift. Her mother would like a brie baker, but since I didnt even know there was such a thing before tonight it is unlikely to arrive on christmas morning.

So, what do you want for christmas missus?

  26. says: tracey gibbons

the thing i love bouy christmas is mt 3 gorgeous boys faces, when they get up to find santas presentss

  27. says: Shannon Brescher Shea

I loved mulled wine and mince pies when I lived in England! No one makes them here, but I hope to make them soon.

  28. says: Steph

My favourite thing about Christmas is waking up at 5am like the big kid I still am, getting Mr up to open our prezzies after he’s made a nice hot drink, then we snuggle back down til a more reasonable hour! I also enjoy a glass (or 2, ok maybe a bottle) of baileys while sitting next to my tree (my pride and joy)! However this year no baileys as I’m expecting, this also makes me designated driver for the season! A stocking full of goodies may take the sting out.. although I wouldn’t swap this bump for anything! It also means I can lie watching fabulously cheesy films and cry with the best excuse ever!!
Hope you all have a merry christmas!!!

  29. says: Rosie Alia

I love Christmas because it’s a chance to see family, be lazy, eat TONS and watch films! I also get very carried away with buying and wrapping my Christmas presents for people!
I don’t know what I want from Santa, but I’ve asked my Nanny to make me a vintage-style hat to ass to my collection πŸ™‚ xxx

  30. says: Leanne

  33. says: Ina

You have such great giveaways! I love the whole waiting for Christmas thing (but I’m careful not to over-decorate before), I love traditional decorations – no bling bling for me, I love giving (and of course receiving gifts ;), I love the food and then I love it when the whole thing is over and you can start waiting for the spring and less darkness.

  34. says: Perdita

Hey! My favourite things: about Christmas: (1) Midnight Mass. So powerful and beautiful (2) is going out to fetes, fairs, German markets and the like. Much better than the high street, plus usually fetes/fairs are for charity AND there’s some vintage jumble to be rummaged.

I am going to tweet and facebook this forthwith πŸ™‚ and I already follow.

MERRY CHRISTMAS Y’ALL (a new Xmas fascination- the american chef Paula Deen…she’s not on the Jamie healthy eating bandwagon hence perfect for Xmas!).

  35. says: Hayley

I love my little boys face in the morning when He sees all his presents and I love being with my whole family as they are the best!

  36. says: Meghan

This year I decided to go for a slightly 1940s decor with some paper chains, only to discover that, on ebay at least, it’s way easier to find packaged paper chain kits (with all the paper pre-cut and gummed slips) than it is to find Christmas paper. Spoils the make-do spirit a little, but it *was* very convenient…Anyway, so I’ve got chains up all over the house and they’re tremendously festive. Thanks for running this contest!

  37. says: Meghan

    …and on Twitter!

Oh, and by the way, your snow shoe recommendations have saved my life. I ended up buying some from Draper of Glastonbury, and they are *amazing*. I had been sliding all over the pavement like a lunatic in my old shoes, and these are much much better. Thanks again!

  38. says: Amy Georgina

I’m looking forward to seeing my little girl’s face on Christmas day, she’s 2 and a half so she has some understanding of Christmas this year. And of course seeing my lovely family on Boxing day and trying not to drink as much absinthe as we did last year!!

  39. says: tor

my favourite thing about christmas is chritmas morning spent in your pjs eating chocolate watching old films.

  40. says: Daisy Age

And my favourite thing about Christmas… I love to lay with my head under the Christmas tree and look up at the twinkling lights through the branches like I did when I was a little girl. I used to think it was so magical – I still do!

  41. says: Julie Johnson

My favourite thing about Christmas is the childs faces when they open their presents and they get so excited they cannot get their words out, PRICELESS

  42. says: Mel Chambers

My favourite thing about Christmas is seeing my childrens’ faces when they walk into the living room on christmas morning. It’s hugs before presents in our house and I cherish those few minutes

My favourite thing about christmas is that my mum still puts a stocking on my door on Christmas Eve if we’re staying at her house. Of course, she’s just helping father christmas out but it really makes me feel about 12 again and I love it!

  46. says: Mafalda

What I love most about Christmas has been being back home with my family ever since I moved out. I always get a ton of presents and eat lots of yummy sweets, too… So how could it not be a favourite time of year? Although I’m not feeling the Christmas spirit as of yet, I’m looking forward to be through with school to go on holidays with my family – we’re going to Switzerland for Xmas and New Years! <3

  47. says: Lyndsey Brett

My favourite thing about Christmas is the way my parents still have the same Christmas traditions that they had when me and my brother were children.
Like the way that even though I’m 21 now, my mum never fails to put tags on all my presents saying ‘To Lyndsey, love from Santa’….and the way that mum and dad bring mine and my brothers santa sacks out on Christmas eve and cover them with a dressing gown, as if that’s gonna fool us to what is actually underneath them!! lol.
I love channeling my inner child and you’re never too old to do that! <3

  48. says: Kelly Young

My favourite thing is, food and lots of it, plus its a must at christmas so i dont have to feel guilty

  49. Wow, what a fabulous giveaway! I am in awe of all this loveliness. Please, please, please let it be me! πŸ˜‰

My favourite things about Christmas? Hmmm….it changes every day of December, much like an advent calender. One day it will be a certain Christmas song that reminds me of decorating the tree with my parents, e.g. Stop the Cavalry by Jona Lewie. Or it is scrambling up at the break of dawn on Christms morning to run downstairs with my baby sisters and see Santa has been and left his glittery footprints by the fireplace (they love this). Or it searching around for that perfect present for a loved one, knowing the smile it will bring to their face.
I love all that is Christmas and the cheer it brings!

    Merry Christmas!

  51. I just love giving presents to friends and family and acting as personal shopper to Santa for my children, and also on behalf of their Granny and Uncles I have such fun browsing and purchasing. The look on my children’s faces on Christmas morning is priceless – and Santa also brings me and my husband a stocking too so it’s smiles all round! Happy Christmas everyone. πŸ™‚

  53. says: Paolla Wanglon

Hi! I really love your blog in the sense that you write as to make your readers relate to you. It’s often like I’m talking to a friend. Another thing I really love is Christmas time. Unfortunatelly, we do not have snow down here. You can’t imagine how it makes me sad! Instead we have terribly hot weather! And I guess one the most adorable items in this giveaway is the ornament. I’m mad about them and I collect them. I love getting special ones from friends as gifts, so I can remember them every year when I look at my tree.

  54. says: Laura Pritchard

I follow you on twitter so free entry for me too! Happy Christmas Retro Chick. xxx

  65. says: Birdie

Favorite thing about Christmas – Christmas used to be pretty sad/down for me. My fam was weird about Christmas and I got into the habit of spending the entire day in bed with my cat.

Recently though (well, the past 4-5 years, I guess) I’ve learned what the whole holiday is truly about – spending that quality time with those you love. My favorite part about Christmas is spending Christmas Eve with my adopted Seattle fam, making eggrolls and enjoying each others’ company.

  66. says: Len

My favourite things about Christmas – being with family and friends, listening to Christmas carols sung by children at the front door in Manila, the smell of my Mum’s cooking, the smile on my 9-year old nephew’s face when he sees gifts from Father Christmas which we usually put on the doorstep. Sadly, I can’t have them because I’m miles away from them.

So, my simple wish is for them to enjoy Christmas even if I’m not there to share it with them!

I’m a follower of your blog and will be posting this on my Facebook wall!

I love all the goodies in the photos!!!! Weeeeeee!!!!

  70. says: Pia

I have always loved Christmas and I love everything about it. I have wonderful memories from childhood – it was the greatest time of the year, so I guess thats my most favourite thing about christmas.

But it’s really hard to decide – I love a good mix between traditional wooden decoration and American glitzy kitch, I get ridiculously excited when they turn the lights on in town center and I love driving past the houses of people who are even crazier than me. That’s why I don’t mind that it gets dark so early in winter – even better because you can see the lights!

I love christmas baking and I love passing on the spirit to my little boy who is at 28 months now also very very excited about anything christmassy πŸ™‚
I made him a huge advent calendar – I love giving presents, any time of the year, but at christmas I can go over the top – a present every day until December 25th! And then comes the overload πŸ™‚

Did I mention that I LOVE christmas?

  86. My favourite thing about Christmas is the shared memories which bring about specific traditions which are personal for each person. My friends each have a different way of celebrating but are very specific about the things that need to be observed. I love that.

  87. says: Betty

This is my first EVER Christmas. When I was growing up, my parents were Jehovah’s Witnesses so we never celebrated as a family. In fact, we’d draw the curtains, do our homework and have a slap up bangers and mash dinner.

THIS Christmas is entirely different. I’ve been decorating, baking and crafting until my little heart is content and I am SO excited about creating new traditions.

    Merry Christmas all πŸ™‚
