Belt Up….

Remember August?

No, me either, it seems impossibly long ago. Well, back in August I wore a purple vintage dress to Goodwood that I thought might look better with a wider belt. I think I was right.

(Sorry about the photo quality, I accidentally used the wrong camera setting!)

ā¤ Pearl Bracelet - Christmas gift ā¤ earrings - eBay ā¤

I think that a slightly wider belt nips the waist in more and gives my torso a little more shape. I’m still not convinced it’s the most flattering dress I own, but it is comfortable and being made from a fine wool it’s nice and warm too!

I really don’t get to wear these shoes often enough either. They’re the ones I got as part of the competition with Sarenza last year and I really like the purple and grey colours and the unusual bendy heel, but it does limit what I can wear them with!

I wore this out for lunch at the weekend, but sad to say my curls didn’t last long in the damp air.

I’m considering resorting to a perm as I’m getting a bit frustrated by leaving the house with pretty curls and arriving at my destination looking like Farrah Fawcett after she’s taken part in the world backward hedge crawling championships. Any advice from vintage ladies with perms on what sort of perm I need in order to avoid looking like a poodle would be greatly appreciated!

This was also the outfit I was wearing (with a coat over the top and a box handbag) when 2 eight year old girls in matching SuperDry jackets called me a red headed freak on my way home. You can, or course, catch up on all the subsequent ranting about the “youth of today” on my Facebook page!

Well, really!

You look amazing, that dress is stunning and the shoes are gorgeous. I cannot use enough adjectives to enjoy this.

Deffo go with the perm, I am no expert I’m afraid but it is the way to keep the curl.

I think that’s actually very flattering! Those pesky kids!

I think it’s probably the length and neckline I’m not sure of.
I was strangely proud at my insult though!

I’d add a little pearl necklace if you’re not sure about the neckline. Can never go wrong with pearls!!

Ooh yes, the belt definitely does it. I think it would look great with one of those wide tan belts with two buckles, as well.

I’d also be tickled by kids making comments about what I wear – it’s nice to stand out!

Ooooh! I keep thinking about having a perm too, I am just too lazy to do the hot rollers on a regular basis, although that’s what I like!! Let us know!

YOu look lovely as ever! Can’t advise on the perm, never had one as I have incredibly easy to curl bushy hair which would be even bushier if I had a perm!!

You look beautiful. I love that dress.

That is a great color! Looks great belted.

    Nice belt!

Interested to hear about the perm, I think I need something more powerful to keep my hair in shape, too!

I def prefer it with the wider belt. And I think it looks really nice on you. Its a lovely colour. I have the same one – so I know how comfy it is.

And kids, eh? I shall join the rant on Faccers…

    “Red-headed freak”? Some people!

Keep doing what you do – you are a red-headed inspiration!

Oh my gosh that is so awful about those two hooligans.

I love the dress and the colour, and I need more wide belts! It’s so hard to find nice ones though. x

very, very pretty dress. Looks so comfy and warm. Read about those kids on your facebook page and got so annoyed, they just have no clue about life do they?

I am in agreement on the perm – I’m planning one in the next couple of months.
Fleur de Guerre Got one about a year ago and did post a little information about it on her blog.
My plan is to go to a hairdresser and try a few sets without perming lotion to work out what I really want before taking the plunge.
I’ll be interested to see how yours goes if you get there first!

If being “normal” = Superdry, I’ll go for freak any day. You look great.

Have you tried curling with GHDs? There is a tutorial on their website, my hair is a bit short but it does really work.
