Bits n Bobs

Well, this is one of those updates that only really interests regular blog readers or anyone who happens to live in Norwich I’m afraid!

I’ll start with the more general stuff for those of you who for some reason DON’T live in beautiful Norwich. Which is to reveal one of the reasons I was so frantic in March! You might have seen my post on the hair and make up workshop we ran for Mill Rythe Holiday village. I’d been hired to put together the costumes for their new musical on Vera Lynn and as spent much of March frantically shopping as well as everything else that was on the to do list that month! This weekend I got my first peek at the costumes on the actors as the first performance of the show happened last week. I hope to show you more in future and some more details on the costumes, but for now these will have to do!

In other news, there is video available of the Cision Fashion Bloggers Breakfast Briefing (Say THAT 10 times fast!) that I took part in last week. It’s an hour long, so I don’t expect you to want to watch it all unless your REALLY interested in how fashion bloggers interact with PR’s, or how *I* interact with PRs! A brief summary of my input would be – Be nice, be honest, and if you want me to write about something you have to give me something to write about!

Now, the news for those of you that DO live in lovely Norwich. The Historical Sauces are holding a Mini Masterclass this weekend. Only problem is I didn’t tellĀ  you as soon as we launched it, and the tickets have already sold out! Never fear though, as we have already arranged a date for the next one, and you can now book tickets for the 27th May. The class is really just a taster of what we offer at a full masterclass. Seeing as the Jubilee is fast approaching we decided to focus on a 50s look with some tips on eyeliner flicks and perfect red lips. There’ll be tea and cake, a limited bar, and exclusive shopping discounts on our products. The class will be held in Olives, which is the cafĆ© bar below our offices, between 5-7pm and tickets are just Ā£10.

Plus, after the workshop, we’re flinging open the doors to all and sundry, opening the bar with a tasty and very reasonable cocktail menu and giving you the chance to do a bit of vintage shopping. We considered many a name for this part of the evening. Personally I was a fan of “Booze & Buy” as it sounds like “Bring & Buy” but ultimately we decided we were too classy for the word booze and went for “Sip and Shop”. It’s a free event, just a nice relaxed sunday evening chance to have a quiet drink and browse some vintage goodies. We’ll have our seamed stockings and lipsticks available too, naturally, so you can get the complete look!

I’ve had to wind down my eBay shop and Etsy shop as I just haven’t had time to keep it stocked, but I still have piles of goodies left, so this is currently the only way to get your mitts on any of it! We’ve got some great pieces between all 3 of us, everything from 50s frocks to 80s shoes, knit wear, hand bags, and even some bits of homeware and accessories.

We’ll also have cupcakes and cocktails to keep your energy up while you shop, and Olives Cafe Bar is amply stocked with board games!

Hope to see you there!

Hello – I’ve been reading your blog for a while but have just gathered the courage to post. I agree with you that Norwich really is lovely – I lived there for just over two years before moving to London and I miss it so much. Luckily I have family there so can visit regularly! The outfits all look absolutely fantastic and “Sip and Shop” sounds great – it would definitely tempt me!
