My favourite thing about Christmas is the fact that no proper food is actually required. I survive on nothing but alcohol, fat and e numbers for practically a fortnight.

My niece and nephews faces when they see the big pile of presents under the tree.Gives me the warm and fuzzies!xx

My favorite thing is the festive spirit you seem to get more than any other time of the year, some say that its to gimmicky but after every thing is prepared, presents wrapped, turkey cooked and the faces of the kids opening their presents it cant be beaten. Merry Christmas everyone and lets hope 2013 is a better year than this. 🙂

My favourite thing about Christmas is seeing my children’s eyes light up when I talk about Santa Claus! As my four are still very small, they all still believe so I am cherishing every moment of it! They are all high as kits and so happy at the moment – it is lovely to see them like this – though tiring for me!

My favourite thing would be having time. Time for taking long walks in the snowy woods with my dog. Time for never ending meals with my family. Time for listening to a ton of Christmas music while sitting by the fireplace. Nowhere to go, just being with my loved ones – Perfect.

We don’t have any presents in the house until Christmas day after the big guys been overnight. I love seeing the look on the kids faces when they walk in the lounge and the tree is surrounded by gifts plus there’s a letter and (fake) snow spilt on the fireplace from Santa.

My favourite thing about Christmas is coming home to family and sitting in front of the fire. And Doctor Who!

My favourite thing about Christmas is watching people open presents (and obviously getting some too :P) but I get so excited watching them open things, waiting to see if they love them watch them wear/play/use them 🙂

Giving back to the community. I always work in a soup kitchen at Christmas . . . The real spirit of Christmas is sharing

  10. says: Gingermiss

I love Christmas Eve when all the shopping is finished and the preparations for the next day have begun. It’s the belief in Santa my grandson has and the serious way he chooses the snack to be left out for Santa and the reindeers.

My least favourite thing about Christmas this year is the exam I have straight after! Normally my favourite thing is joining in with Christmassy things with my family or out and about but this year I’ve had to concentrate on revision instead.

Watching the childrens joy when thye relise that santa has been and enjoying a happy family day together

I just love Christmas in general. I start to get excited around mid November and that lasts right up to the day. Prefix almost anything with the word “Christmas” and it just becomes a million times better in my book. Christmas movies, christmas drink, christmas food…its all good.

Massive christmas thanks for running this competition. Its been amazing.

    Merry Christmas xxx

The best thing about christmas apart from being with your family is sitting on the sofa after your christmas dinner, nicely stuffed and a bit tipsy, then slipping off for a little nap. Nothing better than that!

  15. says: Nikki Hayes

Not having any children, when I hear how stressed parents are at this time of year I am so glad we decided not to have any, lol, means we buy lots of presents for each other instead ;o)

  16. says: Ali Thorpe

I love a combination of things: being with friends and family, getting dressed up, taking extra care over the food, drinking cherry brandy, board games (yes, I really do!), giving and receiving gifts and curling up with the chocolates in front of the TV!

  17. says: Kate

My favourite thing about christmas is our Christmas Dinner and party afternoon with the nursery and reception children I teach. The best bit has to be the look on their faces when they hear the sleigh-bells as Father Christmas arrives – and then all their sweet, shy “Thank you Father Christmas” ‘s as the collect their presents. It’s so nice to have Father Christmas remind you that you’re teaching such polite children!

seeing the christmas trees in peoples windows they look pretty and i try to imagine how christmassy they are in the rest of the house. Love my decorations best though!

  20. says: Sharon B

My favourite thing about Christmas is relaxing with the family – twinkly lights, laughter and festive food!

  21. I guess it is corny, but my favourite thing about Christmas – presents, food, music, decorations, wine and all else beside – is remembering to appreciate my friends and family, thinking of all the good times I’ve spent with them in the past, enjoying them in the present, and looking forward to our futures together. More important even than Christmas cocktails 😉

  22. says: Angela Young

My favourite thing about Christmas is dressing up for parties and days/nights out with friends. This year it will be especially good as I have lost 5 1/2 stone whoop whoop.. so I’m feeling gooooood 🙂

  23. says: Cheryl M

My favourite things about Christmas are first that I don#t have to work all day and secondly that people seem to be nicer to one another – whether it’s in supermarkets or on the roads or when I meet them walking – oh, and of course the chance to indulge in the food is pretty good too!

  24. says: amelia avossa

I LOVE Xmas because of The Festive and Magical feeling it brings…its my fave time of the year. Joy and happiness 🙂

  25. says: Ed

Forget friendship, love and charity – pig wrapped in more pig and ludicrous quantities of bizarre alcohol is all I need for Christmas.

  26. says: Hannah Beadle

  27. says: michelle moloney

My favourite thing about Christmas, the magic for children when they find santa has been to visit 🙂

  28. says: Nyree Brunton

Only one favourite allowed? Hmm, well of course nowadays it’s watching the children get excited during the run up, opening their gifts and playing with their new presents. But there is so much more. All the family traditions, Christmas jumpers, Christmas TV, Christmas food. Making decorations with the children, setting the table for Christmas dinner, watching the Queen’s speech. I could go on! And on, and on!

  29. says: Emma Hollands

My favourite thing about Christmas is traditions!! Have loved making new ones since getting married! 🙂

  33. Hello 🙂 my favourite thing about Christmas is getting all dressed up with my family for a big dinner before curling up in front of the fire – sometimes it’s just brilliant to get all dolled up and not have to go out in the cold!

    Merry Christmas

    xx

  34. says: Katherine

Eating chocolate money and a satsuma for breakfast (obligatory since childhood!); also watching the coloured lights of the Christmas tree shining in a dark corner of the sitting room, and reflecting off the gold and silver of the wrapped presents below …. magic!

  35. says: a knight

I love Christmas Eve when all the presents are set out and the Christmas Tree lights are twinkling, it all looks so magical

  36. says: Hannah P

At Christmas I love the cold, the bracing weather when out walking – the chance to have a couple of days away from work, and some new films on TV to record for later in the year! But most of all I love the pile of pressies and not having a clue what’s in (half of) them!

  37. says: Kim

One of the things I love about Christmas is this little stuff toy Christmas penguin my Mum has. He has a bell round his neck and a little Christmas hat on. When you bang him on the table he says ‘Ho, ho, ho, merry Christmas!’ and it just fills me full of joy!!

  38. says: Karen Walkden

  44. says: Vanessa roberts

  52. says: catherine warburton

My favourite thing is all the family come together at Christmas and it is so lovely seeing them all!

  53. says: Alexandra

My favourite thing about Christmas? The laziness! In most houses, Christmas is 2 days: the day and then boxing day. In my house, it’s a full blown holiday. A good 2 weeks is spent eating, playing games, reading, painting, spending time with family, every day is relaxed and enjoyable and lazy. Every day is Christmas dinner/buffet/leftover Christmas dinner curries, pies, sandwiches. The food is amazing, the company is even better. Christmas is perfect.

  54. says: Jo Boyd

My favourite thing about Christmas is the bit between Christmas Day and New Year when all the rush is over, and it’s just taking it easy, seeing friends and family and having a bit of a breather before life returns to normal.

  55. says: Louise

    Dear Retro Chick,
