Did you see it?!
The Sun was here! I mean there was still a chill in the air, but the sun was definitely shining. I sat in a beer garden and everything. On Saturday I had sensible plans to do all sorts of important and necessary house work, but the sun was just too irresistible and instead I went for a wander round some Charity Shops interspersed with beer in a selection of pubs and beer gardens, and very pleasant it was too, sod the house work.
Bargain of the day was a floral dress, probably 80s I think, for the grand total of £3.99. And wonder of wonders, the weather stayed sunny enough for me to wear it on Sunday to the Historical Sauces Beauty School class. Look how I have to squint my eyes in the sun, it’s a wonder!

The dress has a lovely watercolour floral print, ribbon trim on the bodice, pockets (love a dress with pockets!) and beautiful puffed sleeves, they’re a little tight on me, but I’m used to that now!
I even wore flowers in my hair. The world seems like a whole different place when the sun is shining and everyone seems in a much better mood. Long may it continue, though having lived in England my whole life I’m well aware that next week I could be knee deep in snow again.
The other thing I didn’t do while I was lounging in beer gardens was my roots, so they’ll have to wait another week. I didn’t find any other clothing wonders in the Charity Shops, but I did find 2 books from the Neil Gaiman graphic novel The Sandman for 50p each, which is frankly a bargain and fell in love with this cocktail cabinet in Aladdins Cave antiques market. It was £110, which is a bit out of my price range, so I shall admire it from afar and see if the price drops before someone else snaps it up!
I’ve been jealous seeing other people’s Boot Fair bargains this weekend, but we’ve still not unpacked all the china and glassware since we moved last year, so Boot Fairs are banned until the stuff we already have has proper homes.
How was your weekend? Did you enjoy the sunshine or find any bargains?

Yes, the dress looks 80s or possibly early 90s to me too – there’s something about the print.
We’ve just had a new chazza open in town. I was a bit suspicious as it’s a ‘clearance’ one, with everything cheap, but actually it had pretty decent stock – I got a brushed cotton tartan dress. (As ever, it doesn’t fit. Story of my shopping life.)
The woman in the charity shop said to me “oooh I think that’s quite old!” and I more or less replied, “pfft, not really” but maybe my view of “old” is different from everyone elses, seeing as even early 90s would make it 20 years old!

Hurrah, just when I was ready to shut down fb for a week or so. Lovely frock – nice colours for you!
What is it with people making tight sleeves? I’ve had to re-sell a couple of dresses recently because the sleeves were ridiculously tight. I really should learn how to alter them rather than just give up on a nice frock.
Abby Jones I keep thinking I should learn to alter them, I’m still not convinced it’s the sleeves so much as my arms! I have the problem too often, I should get on with those press ups!
I got a couple of really nice ASOS vintage-style dresses from ebay recently and both were size 12 but with armholes for a toddler. My arms aren’t particularly big so I think ASOS must have very strange sizing. Perhaps an investigation and a blog on sleeve altering is in order!

That’s such a pretty dress. You have to snap up the sunshine while you can, heaven knows it’s scarce enough,

What a terrifically sweet, vibrant, entirely beautiful outfit! We were blessed with the most gloriously lovely weather (eons better – and warmer – the seasonal norm) here on Easter and I sported a vintage floral dress in a similar palette that day instead of going the more traditional pastel or white route, because I just felt that punchy hues matched the beautiful weather so much better.

Glorious!
The dress looks great, what a bargain! As for that cocktail cabinet – it is just crying out to be in my house!
Lovely hair accessory and nice lip colour 🙂
Gorgeous dress! It goes beautifully with the colour of your lipstick, and the ribbon detailing is great too. I am so envious looking at all you northern hemisphere bloggers with your warm weather at the moment!
