An Outfit for Dinner in Dundee

On Friday night we were out for dinner in Dundee.

Our stop overs in Blackpool, and Dundee were in aid of breaking up the long, long trip to Aberdeen where we are visiting family. So on Friday just gone we found ourselves arriving in Dundee just in time to freshen up and head out to hunt for dinner.

I still felt a little shabby after drinking ALL THE BEER in Blackpool the night before, so something nice and easy to wear for dinner was in order, which seemed like the perfect opportunity for a new dress and shoes. Thus it was that I ended up lurking in a back street next to a lovely Italian restaurant called Bellini to get photos of my frock and shoes.

ā¤ Seamed Tights – What Katie DidĀ ā¤ Hair Flower – Betsy HatterĀ ā¤
ā¤ Sailor Brooch – I forget!Ā ā¤

Ā The shoes were sent to me by my new sponsor Born Bad Betty. She customises the shoes with ribbon trim and little charms. I choseĀ this red nautical inspired pair, as I have a soft spot for red shoes and nautical styles, but they are also available in black, with different charms and ribbons and there are some absolutely AMAZING blue ones on the site at the moment. I would say make sure you buy a size bigger than usual as they come up very small. I’m always a size 6 in shoes, I don’t own any shoes that aren’t a size 6. But I had to return the 6’s in these and am now wearing a 7.

ShoesThis cute 1930s style nautical brooch came from a stall at the Norwich Body Art Festival, but for the life of me I can’t remember the name of the seller and the card it came on is at home, so I’m afraid I can’t help, but isn’t she pretty!

The dress is a Heyday! Twizzle dress, which I got with the intention of it replacing my sadly now defunct M&S black jersey dress that I’ve been wearing for about 6 years and is full of holes. I’m really pleased with it as a replacement, it’s comfortable enough to travel in, but looks smart and doesn’t crease too badly when stuffed in a suitcase or worn in a car for 3 hours.

I also popped on a pair of What Katie Did contrast seam tights. I prefer stockings normally, but for travelling tights are always more comfortable as I find the suspender clips dig in when sitting for a long time in a car.

Seams

Full length

The other good thing about the stretchyness of the Twizzle dress is that there is also plenty of room inside it for large amounts of pasta.

We weren’t in Dundee long, but if you ever get the chance to stop off I can recommend both Bellini and the Science Centre, where we decided to pop in and visit the Myths and Legends exhibition before the last leg of our trip to Dundee.

So I shall leave today with the awesome knowledge that Dragons are real. Oh yes indeedy!

I don’t know how you do it, but in every photo you look a) gorgeous; b) radiantly happy. Your photos always make me feel better. I love your blog, because you not just copy the past decade’s styles, but somehow fill it with your personality. You have your own individual vintage style with elements from today’s fashion, you’re not just follow strict rules about “being vintage”. Thank you for that, and keep up your excellent work:)

Wow you’re in Aberdeen! I’m afraid there’s a distinct lack of vintage here although passion for it is growing. I can recommend the Tippling house on Belmont st, it’s got a nice slightly old school feel to it, in comparison to the other same-y bars. Anyway enjoy your stay, i’ll look out for you! šŸ™‚

What a gorgeous outfit! I’m definitely going to get myself some of those shoes. They look like the Office “Dorothy’s Friend” style that I love so much. Very cute and comfy.
