May is the best month of the year.
Well, one of the best months of the year anyway. There are lots of excellent months, but only one of them contains my birthday (that’s May in case you were wondering).
But before I dive forward into a month of cake, cocktails and, er, obstacle races (gulp!) I shall be pausing in a zen like fashion to take a little look back at the story of the excellent month just gone that we shall call April (because that’s what it’s called) as documented on my Instagram.
In April the sun shone pretty much ALL month, which was pretty darned amazing, and I am fairly convinced can’t possibly bode well for the weather this Summer. Still, make the most of it while it lasts!
There were a few outfit posts that didn’t make it to the blog, and some smiley sunshine induced selfies, especially after I’d had a hair cut.
Actually one of the defining features of April was probably that it was pretty sports packed! I played in THREE Roller Derby games, Eastern Sur5al, a public game as the Yellow Shove-Marines, a closed door B Team game in Brighton (which we lost) and a Scrim against a mixed B Team from Cambridge and Suffolk (which we won!). I also ran the Trowse 10k on Easter Sunday (way to earn chocolate) spent some quality time with my foam roller, and practised my sporty posing.
Oooh, and I bought some cool new kit, including leopard print gym gloves.
The good thing about exercise is you get to eat and drink more afterwards. Easter, of course, was in April and therefore chocolate featured highly on my food list that weekend. Someone on instagram commented what a lovely egg that was for sharing. Truth (that I didn’t admit at the time) is that I ate the whole damn thing myself, and the chocolates that came with it, and bloomin’ lovely it was too!
There were some proper meals later in April though, including much experimentation with my new love, the NutriBullet and my own recipe Lemon Chicken Risotto.
There were also drinks, I have been accused of having at least 50% cocktail photos on my instagram. That’s not strictly true, but I do like a good cocktail!
And then there were just the little bits of life. A walk in the woods on a sunny evening. A visit from the doggles in the morning, the sunshine coming through my front room window, a peek at my bed time reading and the contents of my bedside table and the realisation that I have too many pairs of glasses for someone who wears contact lenses 28 days a month.
I hope you all had an equally awesome April and that May is even better!
