Glitter Lips is something that I started doing because of my obsession with Ru Pauls Drag Race.
The Drag Queens often use a glittery lip which looks amazing under the lights, and I was curious as to whether they used a special product or what the technique was. So I did a bit of research and discovered it was pretty easy to do, most places warned that you needed to be careful because you might lose it all, but by adding my own special technique of using Maybelline 24 Hour Lip Colour as a base I managed to spend a whole evening drinking pints (because I’m classy) and still come home with glittery lips.
The glitter I bought came from this eBay seller and is a glitter dust in shade #29 Cherry. It comes in loads of colours if you want to get creative, and is only £1.49 a a pot. There’s nothing more guaranteed to cheer you up than covering yourself in glitter, so I might get some more colours and experiment a little.
You can also use this for nail art as well, so it’s multi purpose if you’re into that sort of thing!
The base is Maybelline 24 Hour Lip Colour in Cherry Pie.
The lip gloss I used is a Soap & Glory one, but all it does is add a little bit of stick for the glitter. If you hate the feel of lip gloss on your lips, then don’t worry, because once you’ve layered the glitter you can’t feel it at all.
One thing you can’t do once you’ve glittered your lips is rub them together, and it can be a little drying, so make sure you put lots of lip balm on before bed!
So, if you’re ready for the technique, I made a short video. I do apologise in advance for the state of my hair!
