Fridays are always a tired day because Thursday night is Scrim Night for Norfolk Roller Derby.
We finish at 10 pm, and it’s an intense evening. I wasn’t even sure if me and my delicate belly should go last night, but, but we did, in an effort to ward off the dangerous pity party that was starting to get underway. I managed ok, a few times the fact that a lot of blood seemed to be flowing to my stomach rather than my head left me a little light-headed, but not too bad for someone who has been basically avoiding solid food for 3 days.
Anyway, last night was not my Janathon adventure, this morning was, when I leapt out of bed and went for a run at a bright and early, er, 10am.
It was a run, what can I say? The only thing of note that occurred was that as I was running along a part of my route all of a sudden about 25 elderly people, all with dogs hove into view.
I am assuming this is some kind of elderly people dog-walking social group, I don’t know. What I can say is that they formed a kind of rolling roadblock that, with the stubbornness borne of age that I have come to recognise from trying to persuade people in their 80s to go to bed when they didn’t want to (I worked in a nursing home, it wasn’t just a hobby), refused to budge just because I wanted to run in the opposite direction. I, therefore, had to leap onto the grass verge and run past them that way in order to avoid breaking anyone’s hip, though I’m not saying the urge to just run straight at them wasn’t there, I had been at scrim 12 hours previous.
I did a mile and a half, which is a lot further than the mile and a quarter I did on New Years Day, mostly because the last quarter mile is up a big hill, which is why I stopped there on New Years Day.
I did also earn a massive 763 TomTom points. It’s a shame I’m not saving them up and adding them all together, I could probably give up mid-January at this rate.
Anyway, I am nearly caught up with all the work I didn’t do while I was ill, so hopefully, some more interesting blogging work will recommence next week.
I shall leave you with a picture of my red and tousled face that does, at least, have eyebrows, as promised yesterday.
