I’m pretty mean to my hair, when you think about it.
My current style has been bleached to within an inch of its life, and has to be blow dried to keep it looking sleek. I don’t wash it every day, but I do occasionally use straighteners to keep it looking good between washes.
Pretty much the only thing I have going for me is that I keep it short, so the damage is at least chopped off regularly.
My hair is tricksy stuff. Heavy products weigh it down as it’s very fine, but there’s also a lot of it, so when it’s in bad condition it can lose movement. It gets a lot of volume, but it just sits there like a hat! Finding the right products can be a bit of a trauma, so when I find something that doesn’t actively make it worse, I tend to stick with it forever. I do occasionally use a treatment on it, but I’ve yet to find one that really makes much of a difference, plus generally they are a faff to use and have to sit around with damp hair for 10 minutes.
Then, a couple of weeks ago Pantene asked me if I would try out their 3 Minute Miracle Repair & Protect conditioner, and it sounded like it could be the dream answer for a lazy person like me who is mean to her hair
Pantene 3 Minute Miracle is both a deep treatment and a conditioner you can use every day and it repairs 3 months of visible damage in just 3 minutes.
Now, I’m not sure that you can necessarily “repair” damaged hair in one wash, but I think we all know that the right products can make a difference to how your hair looks and feels. It can make it shinier, bouncier and behave better, as well restoring moisture to parched locks. So I was very keen to see what this would do for my over-processed barnet!
So far I’ve used this stuff for about 10 days, which works out about 4 washes. It takes 3 minutes to work its magic, so I wash my hair as soon as I get in the shower, add the conditioner, then do all my other faffing about exfoliating and buffing, before rinsing it off.
I was actually super impressed with the results from Pantene 3 Minute Miracle. I fully expected this post to be “hey, it’s a nice conditioner” and not have much else to say. However, while I wouldn’t maybe go as far as the word “miracle” I was more than pleasantly surprised with the effects!
Despite having such short hair it actually did make it feel bouncy, it had movement and life and was a dream to blow dry.
The biggest thing I noticed was that it made my hair stay in better condition for longer. Often if I wash and dry my hair on day one, when I wake up on day two it will all be at funny angles, which is why I have to pull out the straighteners to get it back in order. This has not happened, all I’ve needed in the mornings is a quick brush through and it’s back in place.
It can’t save me from post-roller derby helmet hair, but I have found that I can just use a hair dryer and brush on it to get it back in shape and it still feels swingy, rather than having to rewash it, or have that stiff, immovable, sweaty hair all evening if I don’t have time.
Normally I like to do Pros and Cons when I do a review, but the only con I can really mention for this product is that it does contain silicone.
A lot of people hate silicone in hair products as it can cause build up and be difficult to remove from your hair. However, the exact silicone found in Pantene 3 Minute Miracle is Bis-Aminopropyl Dimethicone; with a bit of research I found that this is different from a lot of silicones. It is not supposed to cause a build up on the scalp and hair. It bonds to damaged areas on the hair’s cuticle and makes the hair feel softer (see, you can “repair” damaged hair!). It also makes the hair easier to comb, and is probably the ingredient responsible for me not having to use straighteners every morning to sort my hair, so personally, I’m a fan!
At the end of the day this is a conditioner, but it did make my hair feel like the best version of it that it’s been for a while, and at £3.99 it’s cheap enough to use regularly!
