Dear Diary

This Week I……

Well hello!

Happy Sunday to you all and WELCOME TO DECEMBER!

This is the second year I haven’t done my Christmas Advent Calendar due to a lack of time to sort it out. I feel a bit sad about it, but I’m also full of plans for the New Year at the moment, so I can’t feel too sad.

In the meantime, I’m starting to feel a bit festive. This afternoon I’m off to my Roller Derby Leagues Christmas Intraleague game, only as a Ref because my sprained ankle means no contact for me, but it’s still great fun, and then there will be beer and festive fun.

But first, this week I….

Regretted my Breakfast

I have a shocking confession to make.

I don’t really like Full English Breakfasts. I like them while I’m eating them, but afterwards they almost always leave me feeling a little nauseous, bloated and lethargic. I don’t know if it’s just too much food for breakfast, or too much fat, but I always feel terrible.

So I rarely eat them, normally opting for something like Eggs Benedict or Avocado on Toast.

Last Sunday we took the Pugs to the Park, and, tempted after not having one for a long time, I ordered a Full English.

It made me feel sick, which is no surprise. But at least I can take them off my breakfast ordering menu again for a while.

Great story, huh? I’m not sure this week is getting any more exciting if I’m honest.

Found a Stone

Oh, no, I lied, this is WAY more exciting.

Wow, I found a stone.

This wasn’t just any old stone. This was an #islastone .

I’ve found decorated stones before, normally they are tagged #NorfolkRocks, on the basis that I am in Norfolk, though when I was in Edinburgh I did find a #FalkirkRocks. This one was a little different as it was tagged #IslaStones which turns out to be a memorial for a little girl who died of cancer.

I will rehide it somewhere interesting, if I ever go anywhere interesting.

Made Pumpkin Pie

Not going to lie, this is definitely the most exciting thing that happened to me this week.

Some of you may remember a few weeks ago I spent some time making fresh pumpkin puree from my Halloween pumpkin and then cracked a rotten egg into the bowl whilst trying to turn it into pie.

My friend Tasha then kindly donated me the most humungous Pumpkin grown by her friend. It looked like something out of a Fairy Tale, and I spent another 3 hours turning half of it into over a kilo of Pumpkin Puree. This was a BIG Pumpkin.

Then, I turned some of that Pumpkin Puree into ACTUAL PUMPKIN PIE! I cracked the eggs into a separateĀ bowl this time. I’m not that stupid.

It might not win any prizes for attractiveness so don’t expect to see me on Bake Off any time soon, but it tastes awesome and I feel super proud from having made it from scratch. (Apart from the pastry, I bought that ready-made, one step at a time people.)

Did Not Buy Another Christmas Jumper

But I’m not going to say it wasn’t close.

On Thursday night a conversation with my teammates made me suspect that the 2 Christmas t-shirts, 3 Christmas Jumpers, 3 Christmas Dresses, Christmas Blouse, Christmas Handbag and several pairs of Christmas tights I own may possibly be too much Christmas clothing. Especially if you add in the 2 Christmas dresses I may or may not (Ok, I definitely may) have just ordered from Dresslily.

So when I was walking home from the Gym on Friday and I saw this jumper, I did not immediately buy it, even though it tickled my sense of humour which apparently resorts to the novelty coaster end of the spectrum as soon as December rolls around.

There is still a lot of December left, so I’m not promising anything though. I also have my eye on this. Yes, I do technically already own 2 sets of Christmas bedding, but one of them is missing and the other one is rubbish quality, so this is probably allowed, right?

Got Totes Emosh

Because yesterday was our last Norfolk Brawds practice of the year, so the off-skates component of our session, which is normally all strategy, tactics, and statistics, was instead a festive round-up of the year, in which we all wrote nice things about our teammates and shared memories of what’s been an epic season, that culminated with our game being televised on the BBC.

I’ll be honest, it was all a bit emotional, but there was chocolate to make up for it. I also filmed it for people that couldn’t be there, which led to major hand cramp, so y’know, it’s not all soppy festive goodness.

And that was another week in my life.

How was your week?
