It’s not all just snapping a quick photo while you’re popping to the shops in that amazing snazzy outfit. No, photo locations are sometimes too hot, too cold, too light or too dark, and I’m always looking out for the one that’s just right.
The evidence, popping to the pub for a quick drink I took my camera and said “Can we pop into the park opposite and take a few quick photos? It won’t take long!”, Mr Chick raised his eyebrows in what I hope was an affectionate manner and agreed to act as my photographer for the evening.
But there were too many people in the park, that photo location was too busy and I felt silly, but there was a very picturesque Church opposite.
Oh, no, this photo location is too shadowy.
Lets move over there, onto the path where there is nothing to cause any shadows.
Oh no, with the sun behind me this photo location is far too dark!
Lets pick up all the crap I dumped on the floor to take the photo and move all the way over there to that patch of grass in the sunshine instead.
Yes, that patch of grass we walked straight past when we came in because I thought it would be too bright.
Ah, this photo location is JUST RIGHT.
This is the Collectif Dolores Doll dress in Atomic Flamingo that I love the shape of so much I just bought myself another one in blue gingham in the Collectif sale last week (which just arrived at the door while I was typing this, hows that for timing?). It has the best full swishy skirt for twirling and the neckline can be worn on or off the shoulder.
As I like to take a theme and run with it I also added some bamboo bangles from Lady Lucks Boutique and a yellow hair flower with pineapples on it from Bad Kitty. Because why do Tiki half-heartedly for a casual evening drink at the local pub when you can make people look at you like you’re a nutter?

I have this one – it’s fab! Xx
I wear it with the matching cardie, and my Miss L Fire wedges – overdress for life, I say! Xx
I LOVE the Dolores dresses and tops but I always find the arms so incredibly tight 🙁
They are a bit snug, but I’m used to stuff being tight on my arms, so I was just pleased that these are elastic!
I’ve got a leopard Dolores top that I had to alter the arms on (ineptly) after I got, like, arm claustrophobia when I was wearing it ?

What happened to your wrist? Roller Derby?
I don’t know to be honest! It’s not an injury, it just started a couple of weeks ago really hurting to twist it, I can’t open doors or turn keys. I refuse to go to the Doctor in case he tells me to stop playing Roller Derby so I’ve taped it up and hopefully it will get better on its own!
Hmmm. Sounds like an RSI 🙁 I love that you have pretty support tape! Like a rugby player 😀
Just perrrrfect!
I just read this to my gentleman and we laughed and laughed. You completely captured so many experiences we’ve had when trying to do a photo shoot. I’m so happy to hear its not just us. The photos turned out beautiful and your outfit is lovely.

I just posted about the same thing not that long ago! Sometimes I’m 200 photos in before I finally start getting good photos, it can be an exercise in frustration. But it looks like you really did find the Goldilocks spot, because your photos turned out beautifully! And damn, check out your legs in that second Goldilocks shot! If whistling at people you don’t know where appropriate, I would do so. 😉
Love the print on the dress, and those shoes are beyond fabulous.
Even when you know what light and spots are generally good there’s always a bit of trial and error!
