Now we’re safely into January I feel able to talk about shopping again.
The January sales are in full swing, and it’s a great time to bag things on the High Street that you’ve lusted after all year now they’re finally knocked down to something almost close to their actual worth.
For today’s Friday Frock Love I’ve scoured the virtual High Street for some vintage inspired sale bargains, and I’ve even turned them into little decade specific outfits. I can’t guarantee all the accessories are on sale, but they’re really just for an idea!

1920s
If you read the reviews under this lovely beaded flapper style frock, it seems it might not even be as short as it looks, unless you’re a tall girl.
Team it with low heeled, almond toe shoes, a feather head dress and lots and lots of eyeliner and lipstick for a touch of flapper style.

This dress from Wallis has a 70s does 30s vibe, and with the right accessories will look amazing. I am absolutely in love with it and if I manage to get over Christmas and it’s still there then it’s so mine.

1940s
To make a change I’ve picked out a skater dress for the 40s look. It’s the kind of look I was hoping to go for with the lace George dress before Christmas, but it didn’t quite work. Matching knit cowl, rib tights and gloves with elegant fur trim boots. Just add glamorous 40s film star waves.

The use of the word midi suggests this should be a reasonable length, and it looks a lovely 50s shape. With a petticoat and chic accessories this will look adorable. But don’t get me started on the shoes I’ve used in this outfit. They are my new favourite Anglomania’s and I hope one day they will be mine.

That 1930s dress is so beautiful! I wish I had occassion to wear it! I tried on a Flapper dress yesterday and it was far too unwearable for me – I was gutted as I love 1920s fashion!
Ohmigosh! That 30s style Wallis dress is divine, you MUST buy it!! Unfortunately Wallis never seem to do any of the dresses I like in big girl sizes…or they do but I’m never quick enough.
And I want all the Miss L Fire shoes. *sigh*
I do have a 20s style beaded dress….I got it from Oasis a couple of years ago but I’ve never worn it as I feel it’s too short (but could be done with thick tights I suppose) and it’s sleeveless…as I’ve got older I’ve discovered I need sleeves…even if it’s just a cap sleeve. Oh, and a boyish frame to wear it on too instead of a curvy one would probably help!! LOL!!
So it’s either add sleeves, lose curves, or sell it!!
Love the 30’s outfit esp the hat! I got some vintage style silk baubles yesterday from Sainsburys of all places. A box of 4 were £2.99 now 89p- so I bought 6 boxes!!
I am in love with the thirties dress, going to check stock now. I love the shoes as well but they are a little out of my price range at the moment even on sale.

Sadly I spent all my Chrimbo money in a mad frenzy last week. But to give you hope… during said frenzy, after finding NO reduced, pretty, my size shoes anywhere, I went into Fenwicks to buy tights out of the reduced-old-record-shop-type-bin they have in the sales and found (OK, went and peeked at the shoe dept and found) a pair of Anglomania ‘Crock’ for £40 down from £160. I kid you not. So never lose hope for a bargain!
Thank goodness we are back to proper shopping, some excellent bargains about at this time of year too, great style inspiration too hun!! X
Ahhhragh, more things to look at and want, I seem to have spent more on myself than anyone else this Xmas.
Oh, and the 20’s Miss L Fire shoes are actually black with the fan part in gold – just to let you know, I got a little shock when mine arrived but they are still beautiful
