Wedding number one of the two I am attending in September was an old school friend who I’ve known for 20 years. The wedding itself was on the Friday whilst the Reception took the form of a beer festival and barbeque in a village hall on the Saturday.
The invitation instructed “dress to impress” so I took the opportunity to go for a full on gloves and hat look:
Hat - TK Maxx Earrings, gloves, dress and clutch - Vintage Shoes - Red or Dead
This outfit was one I tried on orginally whilst playing dress up, Parisian Style, so you’ve seen it all before, but it’s nice to give it it’s full glory.
The dress I have been looking for an opportunity to wear out for some time, it’s 1950s with gorgeous cut out embroidery on the skirt and bodice. Unfortunately it’s also not in the greatest condition, and very delicate, but I thought it deserved one last hurrah. The side seam let me down in the end, but possibly attempting vigorous dancing in it after much beer and barbeque food wasn’t my best idea yet. It may be repairable, I certainly hope so. I decided to brighten it all up with sparkly purple shoes.
The Beer Festival theme was taken very seriously, with Kentish Hops decorating the walls and wedding cake, and you can just make out one of the “pint of beer” floral decorations in the background.
Whilst the Happy couple themselves, of course, also looked very dapper in silver and navy.
The day itself was fabulous and I left with 2 commemorative printed beer glasses and enough left over beer to keep me entertained for a week or so. Something you may not know about me is that real ale is one of my more unusual/unlikely hobbies and I’m actually a CAMRA member. If you’ve never tried it I remain convinced there is a real ale out there for everyone.
